Our Story

No Longer Limited Duty

The idea for our organization came from our founder and Executive Director’s own personal journey after an injury while deployed left him medically retired and fighting for to regain his health. Here is his story.

I had left on my third deployment. I was stationed onboard the USS Ronald Reagan and we were heading towards the Middle East to support the war efforts in Afghanistan. After about one month underway, Japan was hit with a massive earthquake and tsunami, which was followed by a nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant. We were the closest aircraft carrier, so we headed straight for Japan to help. For the next 3 weeks, we were very within 20 nautical miles of Fukushima. During this time, I got to the point where I couldn’t sleep. Now I know that it was a mild case of PTSD. To fight this, I started working out like an animal. After a little over 2 months of working out way too much, I messed up. I did one wrong move and threw my back out. One thing led to another and within 3 years I was medically retired and rated at 100% disability. We now know that the radiation is deteriorating my soft tissue in my body as well as a host of other issues.

During the years that followed, I was going to the best spinal surgeons in the country and every time they told me the same three things. "There's nothing we can do for you." "You are only going to get worse." and "You are going to have to learn to deal with the pain." I finally found a surgeon who agreed to do the surgery but there were better odds that it would make things worse for me.

During this time, my pastor would always ask me how my back was doing and knew the whole story. Finally, one Sunday, he asked, and I told him that I was calling the very next day to schedule the surgery. He pleaded with me to hold off and go see his chiropractor. He then said, "Give it two months!" Something about that resonated with me. So, I decided to give it two months and if it didn’t work, I was going to do the surgery.

Well after two months, I was probably 75% better. Then after that next month, I was around 95% better. I was amazed and thankful.

Since then, I have continued to strive to improve my health and with the help of my chiropractor and his team, I now feel better than I ever have.

It is my belief, that these holistic services can greatly improve and heal the health of our Veterans. We will strive to impact as many Veterans as possible with these services, at no cost to them.
